SINGING WINGS OF LIBERATION ELEVATOR PITCH
Music has always been a beacon for unity and liberation. So, why not give our Lady Liberty some modern style with singing organs, full colorful wings, beautiful lights and finishes, and immersive experiences (i.e. virtual/augmented reality lounge and data visualization technologies)? This revitalization design would reward us with a magnificent platform to share our diverse arts, music, and culture for future generations!
Below are my suggestion(s) for Lady Liberty’s colorful wings and a world music performance and recording stage.
In order to introduce a wide-open space within the statue, the existing spiral staircase to the crown would be transformed to a more efficient system and relocated. There would be ‘rainbow eucalyptus’ wings built and accessible via a new “SkyWing Bridge.” Inside the ‘rainbow eucalyptus’ wings, there are organ pipes that play into the main stage and large screen. The orchestra pit next to the main stage is in a nautilus shape with the best audio equipment and world instruments. The main stage would be designed to effectively record acoustics, but also as a focal point visible from anywhere inside the statue. Imagine that you’d be able to see and hear the world-class musicians performing around and above you! **style inspirations: The Sphere (NV), Museum of Pop Culture (WA), and Fuerza Bruta or Cirque du Soliel.
There are opportunities for promoting “bravecations” experiences for visitors within the arm & torch, Lady Liberty’s new plumage (described briefly above), the crown, in the pedestal, and in the new “SkyWing Bridge” (a digital data art tunnel with Chihuly glass displays, and Skydeck Chicago floors or lookout balconies). These bravecations allow visitors to interact with the revitalized interior architecture, explore music collections, and engage with featured installations on history, digital art, and data science.
**A B1M or AutoCAD file for this idea will be a record for the Statue of Liberty Revitalization Program.
