November Reflection Post: 30-Day Doodle Challenge
Hey Friends!
Say Wha??? 30 days is up?
Wow. First of all, I can’t believe I actually finished a 30-day challenge. I always admired the time and patience someone put into participating in any challenge. I guess drawing comes easier for me than a 30-day fitness challenge. But, still. I committed and executed- which is important. :)
Initially, it wasn't super easy to doodle and post online daily. I realized quickly that a routine was necessary to make sure I did it. After I got into a routine, I had to make sure that I was spending the same amount of time on each daily drawing. There were some days where I would spend a lot of time on details and be excited to show my work. But, there were also days that made me sketch as fast as I possibly could to get it over with ( i.e. right after the election results).
I liked doing the research to find what to draw next. If the doodle was in a place I hadn't been, I had to look into all the cities to figure out where I would want to be standing one day. Other than the drawing, I think the research was my favorite part, as I learned so much about the different cities in the world. Safe to say, I used this challenge to add to my life-long travel bucket list! That way, I can have real-life references for my doodles :).
I also enjoyed that I could say I was in a different part of the world everyday someone asked me how my day went. They might have gotten annoyed eventually, but I laughed each time :-P. I've listed my positive and negative takeaways from this challenge below if you're interested.
Thanks for voting and reading! I appreciate your continued support!
Until next time. <3 AW

*MY TAKEAWAYS FROM THE CHALLENGE*
POSITIVES:
- Practice is always helpful.
- Became a more lenient critic on myself over time.
- Got faster at the doodles over time and it got me in a good daily routine.
- Got to research many cool places in the world.
- Realized I like drawing architecture.
- Improvements in certain drawing techniques.
- I sketch straighter lines now.
- I know how to use fewer colors to create a mood.
- Slowly improving on using only black pens when necessary (using less color)
- Improved my 3D shapes.
- Realized I still need practice in the following:
- Creating better perspective.
- Patience with using fine point pens for depth and dimension.
- Drawing people. In general, I suck at this right now.
NEGATIVES
- Without a theme, it’s tough coming up with doodles everyday.
- I got impatient sometimes and just wanted to finish the doodle, which made for some sloppiness in the drawings.
- Because of the around the world theme, I wasn’t drawing the same picture daily. This probably didn’t help improve a certain technique, as much as I had hoped.
